Director Paul King has confirmed work on the sequel to the popular musical Wonka, and Warner Bros. announced the premiere date for 2027.

Paul King, the director of the musical Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet, has officially confirmed that the film will get a sequel.

In his interview with HeyUGuys, he said that the team already has a draft version of the script and a clear direction for the development of the new story. “We have about half of the draft version of the script. There is a story that we like, and we know where we want to take it,” the director said.

Warner Bros. also announced that the premiere of the sequel will take place on December 17, 2027.

It will be recalled that the original film, which is a prequel to the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was released in November 2023, collecting 628 million dollars at the box office against a budget of 125 million and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

It was previously reported that the trailer for the eighth film of the Mission Impossible franchise was released, where the new title was officially confirmed – Final Payback.
