The star left the set for ten years to focus on building a happy family life. Her last work was the film Annie in 2014, after which Diaz married musician Benji Madden and gave birth to two children.
“It was something I just had to do. I felt like it was the right decision to get my own life back and I just had to give up on everything else. No one’s opinion, no one’s success, no one’s suggestion, nothing could change my decision to take care of myself and build the life I really wanted,” Diaz shared.
Despite her absence from the screens, the actress did not sit idle. She has written two health books and launched an organic wine brand, Avaline.
However, Diaz did not plan to completely say goodbye to cinema. She has already starred in Netflix’s action-comedy Back In Case, which is set to premiere in January 2025. In addition, she will voice the new part of Shrek and is in talks to participate in a comedy with Keanu Reeves.
